The American Light Company, founded in Zanesville, Ohio in 1910 just blocks from the world famous Y-Bridge by Abe Goldenberg and Sam Goldstein. Originating as a lamp manufacturing company, it later became an electrical distribution company selling products we can recognize today. In 1994 Bernard Goldstein (Sam's Son) sold the company to the employees, which is how it remains today.

Today, we are still located in the original Main Street building in downtown Zanesville. We consist of 12 full time employees owning and operating The American Light Company as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (E.S.O.P.). We supply wire, lamps, fixtures, wiring devices, generators, switch gear, etc. on a wholesale basis to commercial and industrial accounts. We also sell to electricians, schools, hospitals, and government accounts. We supply top of the line products backed by excellent customer service and strong community involvement.

As a company, we support our local community in many ways. We contribute to many local charities and non-taxable foundations. We are members of the Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Ohio State Chamber of Commerce.
